DZUP 1602 has been on and off the air since 1957. In its inception, it was used as a laboratory for engineering students. From then, it served as a community radio, where the voice of students, faculty and administration was heard on the air.

 

 

During the Diliman Commune it became the medium for activism. After the station was destroyed by the military during the Martial Law ear, its broadcast has been inconsistent due to logistic and technical problem
